Stallions head out to compete for USFL Championship for fans in Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – It’s playoff week in the USFL. Four teams, including the Birmingham Stallions, will battle it out in Canton, Ohio for all bragging rights.

“What an amazing journey we’ve been on,” said stallion trainer Skip Holtz.

The Stallions rechecked their bags as they left Magic City for the USFL playoffs.

“My PS5 is what I need to take,” said quarterback J’Mar Smith.

“I can’t leave without my headphones,” defensive tackle Willie Henry said.

While players are eager to compete for a championship title, they will miss living in the 205.

“Deep South hospitality, it was my first time down south, I enjoyed it very much,” Scooby Wright said.

“I had to stop at T-Bone to get myself a cheesesteak before I left here,” Smith added.

“A wing spot called Wings R King, I eat it four times a week,” Smith said.

Smith said it was an honor to represent the home team.

“They brought the energy to every game,” Smith added.

And that’s why the Stallions want to bring the material back.

“It’s a blessing to come here and play for the Birmingham Stallions,” said Marable.

“The support has been incredible, we’re going to do everything we can to bring this trophy back to the city of Birmingham,” said Holtz.

The Stallions will face the Breakers on June 25 at 7:00 p.m. in Guangzhou.
