Swimply allows Montrealers to rent private pools

If Quebec’s extreme heat wave is pushing you desperately to swim in a cool, refreshing pool, but you don’t have one, you might think you’re SOL (aka out of luck). But there is still hope for you. Swimplyan app recently launched in Montreal, lets you and your friends rent pools by the hour, Airbnb-style.

“Swamply enables non-pool owners to access otherwise unattainable luxuries while allowing pool owners to earn a substantial and effortless income from their underutilized pools,” Swimply explained on its website.

The online marketplace for pool sharing already has over 100 private pools available for rental in the Montreal area and over 20,000 pools listed in the United States, Canada and Australia.

Prices usually range from US$25 per hour, like this swimming pool welcoming courtyard near Sauvé station, at US$70 an hour, just like that heated swimming pool in a luxury villa in Cote Saint-Luc. But, according to a Swimply spokesperson, the average price is US$45 per hour.

Similar to Airbnb, each pool allows a certain number of guests – some even allow up to 20 people! And you can filter your search by details, such as whether the pool is heated, whether there are restrooms, whether pets are allowed, and whether there’s a diving board, hot tub, or grill.

There are also reviews so you can get a better idea of how well the pool is maintained, how smooth the process is, and how much you can trust your host.

Do you have a swimming pool for rent? Swimply told us that pool owners can earn around $5,000 to $10,000 per month on average.

If you’re ready to ditch the air conditioning and work on that tan, here are seven private pools to get you started for under $60 CAD an hour.
