Tampa International Airport Wants You To Name The Great Flamingo | Tampa Bay News | Tampa

Earlier this year, Tampa International Airport (TPA) installed a new 21-foot flamingo statue, and now it needs a name.

The airport announced a “Name this flamingoThis morning, and in addition to some serious bragging rights, the winner also wins a Busch Gardens “VIP Experience” package, which includes four day tickets, restaurant passes, unlimited fast queuing and preferred parking.

And, as this is an airport contest, the winner will also receive four non-stop return tickets on Silver Airways and an invitation to the christening ceremony.

Voting begins today and will continue until December 6. Submissions may be submitted to namtheflamingo.com. TPA staff will select their top three names and public voting will begin on Monday, December 12.

The winning name will then be revealed via TPA’s social media accounts on Friday, December 16.

Created by artist Matthew Mazzotta, the Best of the Bay award-winning sculpture is called “Home” and is a regular stop for tourist photos and selfies.
