The “At Home in Prague” program attracted more than 30,000 tourists

In July, the special campaign attracted more than 30,000 tourists to Prague, a significant increase from last year.

The tourist campaign TO House in Prague (V Praze jako doma), aimed at attracting tourists with special discounts, attracted around 31,000 people to the capital in July, 30% more than last year.

According to an interview by ČTK with Klara Mala, spokesperson for Prague City Tourism, the most visited attractions are the Prague Zoo in Troja, the Petrin Observation Tower and the Old Town Hall.

Like last year, tourists receive special vouchers for each night spent in a hotel until the end of August, which they can use to receive discounts or free entry to certain museums, galleries and zoos. .

Last year, the campaign drew more than 70,000 people to the capital, 24,000 of whom arrived in July. This year, an additional seven thousand tourists visited Prague last month.

“The exact reason for the increase in the number of tourists can only be speculated. However, the fact that it was the second time certainly played a role, the campaign started earlier and there was more time for it, and a better situation with the pandemic also helped, ”the spokesperson said. Mala.

To date, 300 accommodation establishments have joined the program. However, last year’s numbers were higher with 400 establishments enrolled. According to PCT, the drop is likely due to the fact that some hotels or guesthouses have closed and others opened later than usual for the holiday season.

Tourists coming to the capital are most interested in four and five star hotels.

In the case of monuments and cultural sites, their number remained similar to last year. People can visit 60 interesting and different places around Prague. The latest addition to this year’s program is the ability to get vouchers for live events such as concerts or theatrical performances. Tourists can also use the vouchers for guided tours.

Among the attractions for which tourists are given a reduced rate, there are various towers of Prague – the Petrin Observation Tower with a labyrinth, the Old Town Hall, the towers of Charles Bridge, etc.

The National Museum, Prague City Museum, Central Gallery, Botanical Garden and Troja Zoo are also involved. People can also go to the Museum of the Kingdom of Railways or the Karel Zeman Museum at a reduced price.

Last year, the program TO House in Prague attracted 73,000 visitors, who spent an average of 3.2 nights in the capital. Tourists spent over CZK 220 million in the city.
