The Mayo Clinic offers its employees a “thank you day” on November 26

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) – The day after Thanksgiving is often not very busy but has long been considered a regular workday for Mayo Clinic employees, but it won’t be this year.

The Rochester-based healthcare provider has announced it is closing most of its outpatient practices and suspending scheduled surgeries on November 26 this year. Mayo Clinic President and CEO Dr Gianrico Farrugia said it would be a “thank you day” for Mayo Clinic employees.

“We recognize that the length of the COVID-19 pandemic has had an emotional and physical impact on staff. In appreciation for their dedication throughout this year, the Mayo Clinic is closing most of its outpatient practices in the United States and suspending scheduled surgeries from November 26 to offering staff a day of thanks for all the hard work they have accomplished to support our patients during the pandemic. “

His statement goes on to say that the decision was not taken lightly and is intended to thank the staff and give them time to recharge their batteries. It also says patients with previously scheduled appointments in areas that will be closed the day after Thanksgiving will be contacted to reschedule those appointments.
