The Mount Tammany area is a perfect fall weekend in New Jersey

I discovered one of the most beautiful mountains in the country by getting lost on my way back from the Poconos. And I can’t wait to go back.

I have read so much about Mount Tammany over the years and always wanted to plan a visit.

So I started looking for a perfect fall weekend there.

This stunning mountain is part of the Kittatinny Mountains and is found along the Appalachian Trail.

Technically, it’s in Knowlton Township, and according to hikers, it’s one of the toughest and most beautiful hikes in the state.

In fact, it is listed as one of the best hiking destinations in the state as it features varying levels of difficulty and spectacular views.

Once you get to the top of Mount Tammany, you can look and see for miles from Pennsylvania, as the mountain sits right on the Pennsylvania border.

It’s no surprise that Mount Tammany is often on lists of the nation’s most beautiful mountains and one of America’s most beautiful hikes.

A perfect weekend in New Jersey would be to rent an Airbnb and enjoy the foliage on the way up.

Yes, you can cheat New Jersey by staying in the Poconos, but you can also find a spot on the New Jersey side.

There are so many places up there that have fire pits and some even have hot tubs so you can enjoy the great views outside, but stay warm and cozy.

Wake up early in the morning and pack a walking stick and good hiking shoes and hit the trails, and spend the day enjoying the views, small waterfalls, and scenic vistas you’ll pass along the way.

You will find beautiful fast streams that you will have to cross with care.

However, you are here for the summit – and once at the top, have a quick autumn picnic at the top.

Literally the southernmost peak of the Kittatinny Mountains, Mount Tammany is something we all take for granted because we live here.

And fall is the perfect time to see though. So if you’ve never been there, now is the time.
