The ports of Spanish Andalusia are working on the creation of a cruise route along the Andalusian coast

SUNCRUISE Andalucia aims to promote Andalucia as a leading cruise tourism destination.

Tourism by sea along southern Spain is what Suncruise Andalucia, an association made up of Andalusian ports belonging to the Ports of Spain system, aims to promote with a cruise itinerary along the Andalusian coastline.

“The purpose of this association is to make Andalusia an attractive place for cruise tourism, and for us the success would be to obtain a cruise line that reaches the seven main Andalusian ports”, declared the president of the association, Rafael Carmona.

Malaga is the main Andalusian destination for cruise passengers. Suncruise’s intention is to unite the seven ports of general interest in Andalusia (Algeciras, Almeria, Cadiz, Huelva, Malaga, Motril and Seville) and transfer this attraction to the rest of the community.

As Carmona has pointed out, “Andalusian ports are the gateways to a region committed to working closely together to foster cruise tourism, as well as to offering the most pleasant stay to all visitors wishing to know our region”.

The way to achieve this is by designing a cruise itinerary that runs along the Mediterranean and Atlantic coast of Andalusia.

According to Carmona, Suncruise is already negotiating with shipping companies to make that dream a reality, with MSC Cruises saying the route could be “very attractive” to Italian and British tourists.
