Wacky accommodation and unique apartments and houses are becoming increasingly popular with British holidaymakers, especially staycationers.

New data from Airbnb has revealed that bookings of unique spaces – think treehouses, UFO-themed homes and renovated double-decker buses – have increased by more than 113% since 2019.

It also found that total revenue for one-time stays was higher than for regular listings in 2021, with these homes bringing in £134million in the UK and nearly $1billion globally.

From fairytale castles to houseboats, unique vacations are for everyone, useful not only for family getaways, but also for themed celebrations and romantic getaways, and more and more is popping up in the UK.
