These are Tripadvisor’s Best “New” Destinations of 2022

In 2022, travel resumes service. And whether you’re looking to jet off to a distant paradise or stay comfortable with a staycation, everyone’s on the hunt for top-notch sightseeing.

Review site TripAdvisor echoed what he says are the top “new destinations” holidaymakers plan to go to this year. By analyzing its own visitor data, the site created two lists: one of global destinations and another of UK tourist hotspots.

So what exactly makes a destination “new”? Well, we’re not really talking about previously unknown or undiscovered places. TripAdvisor calculated its ranking by analyzing the vacation hotspots that have seen the strongest growth in online traffic over the past year. These places are more “on the rise” than “new”.

In TripAdvisor’s list of global destinations, the top spot goes to Key West, Florida: A city renowned for its pristine turquoise waters and iconic conch-style architecture. Next comes Baa Atoll in the Maldives, which is known for its endless stretches of white sand and general laid-back vibe. Rounding out the top three is this little-known beauty, New York City. It’s a solid list – if not exactly a surprising one.

More interesting is TripAdvisor’s selection of the best “new” British destinations. First place goes to Brithdir in Gwynedd, Wales – a totally picturesque little hamlet near the Coed y Brenin forest park. The second was Llanberis, a Welsh lakeside town at the foot of Snowdon, while the third was Fulford, a historic village just outside york.

Here are the two complete lists in all their glory.
