In a state as compact as Rhode Island, we are unlikely to find any place that truly fits the definition of middle of nowhere. However, that doesn’t mean we can’t feel like we’ve escaped to the middle of nowhere. Tucked away along a dead end street on Prudence Island, this waterfront cottage, officially known as Sea Glass, offers stunning views of Narragansett Bay.

To reach Sea Glass, you will need to take a 30-minute ferry ride to the island.

While you may not be in the middle of nowhere, you’ll definitely feel like it when you escape to this serene cottage that comfortably sleeps five in its two bedrooms.

The cozy cottage has a king bed, a queen bed and a twin bed, as well as two bathrooms.

One of the first things you’ll probably notice is the view of the bay. Curl up on the couch and watch the water while you stay in this year-round favorite.

If you want to go out for dinner, you’ll have to get back on the ferry to the mainland. However, you can order delivery from select restaurants in Bristol, as long as you are willing to get to the ferry to pick up the food.

Gather around the table which also offers a great view. If you run out of basic necessities, head to the small shop near the ferry, which sells basic items and souvenirs.

You will also find a perfect office if you are looking for a place to work remotely. The hosts confirm that the chalet’s wifi is strong and reliable.

Drink in the breathtaking views from the side porch. You are only a few steps from the pebble beach (wear crocs or something to protect your feet).

A walk in the water is doable. However, if you go at low tide, don’t venture too far if you can’t swim. For about 10 feet the water is usually very shallow at low tide before getting very deep.

You’ll find a ton of opportunities – hiking, biking, and kayaking – to explore both the island and the bay during your stay.
