This secluded log cabin for sale in British Columbia is the definition of Halloween vibes

We kind of gave you a taste of Halloween with our last house of the week. But this time around we dive completely into the spooky vibes, and we just have the place in mind. We found a remote property for sale in northern BC that ticks all the boxes that give us heebie-jeebies. Crazypeople. Goosebumps. And, maybe even nervousness.

Disclaimer – we approach this with a Tucker and Dale vs. Evil perspective. We’re sure the current owners of the property are nice people who live their lives, and certainly not a cannibalistic family who kidnap random travelers. Just to be clear.

First of all, the location. The 84-acre property sits near the village of Hazelton, which sits between the relatively well-known towns of Terrace and Smithers. Founded in 1866, the village originally served gold miners, but has lost its luster over the course of around 150 years. The latest population count? Just over 300 people. If you are trying to drive here from Vancouver it will take around 14 hours to do so.

Next, we will examine the main house. Located off-grid and apparently hand-built, the house is definitely in a ‘top fixer’ condition. However, the builders were honestly ahead of their time as they incorporated a ton of poles with brambles into the design. Seriously, they share that affinity with the “mansion” builders in Whistler.

Beyond that, things get a bit darker. The house is filled with loot from hunting trips and, uh, unique spaces. Like what we are guessing is a wood storage room, but also maybe a tannery and a hide storage area? The unfinished basement also leaves something to be desired, but we’re sure a foosball table would change everything.

And, we’ll be the first to admit that the other buildings on the property give us a serious “Don’t Break In” vibe. We’re looking at you, random overgrown shed that could easily fit into the first season of Real detective. But hey, again, a little mood lighting and a good cleaning day will go a long way.
