Ukraine Relief will organize a fundraising gala for Christmas
A BOURNEMOUTH charity is about to celebrate months of hard work with a special Christmas event.
Ukraine Relief is preparing to hold its own gala at the Carrington House Hotel in December.
The event will be an opportunity for the hundreds of charity supporters to enjoy a well-deserved break, while raising funds for Ukraine.
Karol Swiacki, the founder of Ukraine Relief, said: “We come together to enjoy our time away from work. This is the main.
“It’s going to be a very good evening.”
Ukraine Relief was first launched as Bournemouth Aid to Ukraine in February, following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
It quickly became Bournemouth’s biggest fundraiser for the war-torn country and garnered support from dozens of global businesses.
Then, over the summer, it was renamed Ukraine Relief in a move towards global recognition.
Throughout her journey, she has kept a hard core of volunteers, who have devoted their time to sorting donations for Ukraine.
The gala is expected to welcome these hard-working people, as well as staff from Castlepoint Shopping Center who for months provided a warehouse for donations to the charity.
Many Ukrainian artists, mayors from all over the agglomeration and other elected officials will also attend the event.
Karol revealed that there will be an auction on the night to raise money for the charity and with additional special items up for grabs.
He said: “I spoke on the phone to a friend of President Zelensky. They are so impressed with our work that they would like to give us some of his items for auction. We will even have his own bike.
On top of that there will be ‘award winning catering’ and awards given out throughout the night to volunteers and businesses who have supported the cause.
The Christmas Gala will take place at the Carrington House Hotel on Friday 16th December.
