Vintage caravan up for auction at Charterhouse in Sherborne

An 89-year-old caravan, affectionately known as Lady Eccles, is looking for a new home.

Lady Eccles, a vintage caravan ‘full of old world charm’, will be auctioned at the Charterhouse in Sherborne next month.

The caravan originated in 1933 as an Eccles Model 35, and its first owner was Sir Rouse Boughton who purchased it from the London Caravan Company in Bond Street.

Now, and following the death of her last owner, Lady Eccles is ready for a new home.

Estimated between £4,000 and £5,000, it will make the perfect companion to be towed behind a vintage car for sightseeing, or to be used as a quirky Airbnb-style rental.

Richard Bromell of the Charterhouse said: ‘What a great vintage caravan, full of old world charm and it even has lead lattice windows for this quaint English cottage on wheels.

“Unfortunately the owner recently passed away and she is now looking to be relocated.”

Lady Eccles will go under the Charterhouse hammer on Friday, December 2 at Long Street salerooms in Sherborne.

It will be part of a three-day auction of model trains, coins, medals, stamps, watches, silverware, jewelry, antiques and interiors.
