Voting Updates for the 2022 Primary Election in Warren County

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) — Whether you plan to vote in person or request an absentee ballot, there are a few things you should know.

The primary election will take place on May 17.

Warren County Clerk Lynette Yates says, “You should probably get a postcard in the mail in about a week, week and a half, so everyone is looking for it. It will be sent to all voting households in Warren County, and it will give you the new voting plan for our voting centers and the days for early voting. How to proceed if you are eligible to vote by mail for a mailing. All this information will be on this card.

The deadline to make changes to your voting status is two weeks from today.

Yates says: “If you are going to change your registration in any way or register to vote, you must do so by April 18 at 4 p.m. For any changes like address changes and things like that. Now you can’t change parties because if you do you won’t be able to vote in the primary but any other changes you may need to make or register then it must be done before April 18 .

Warren County will use voting centers instead of local precincts.

“In 2020, with the executive orders, it kind of changed the face of elections from now on. We have therefore adapted some of the voting centers. We had approximately 49 locations where you voted in Warren County for precinct-level voting. Now we are making voting centers that you can go to. Anyone can walk into any of these centers and vote, so it’s more convenient,” Yates says.

Another change in voting this year is the implication of three-day early voting.

“You will have Thursday, Friday, Saturday. 12, 13 and 14 for early votes. It will be 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for those three days,” Yates explains.

Yates says voting is your time to be heard.

“Any vote anywhere in any county, any state, it’s your time. Now is the time for you to be heard, and what you think is important to you and your family. I should always say… research your candidate, know what they stand for, know their experiences with what they do. It’s just your time. We have that right, and that’s when we should all use our time to be heard,” Yates says.
