Where do NJ locals escape for a warm winter getaway?

Now that the holidays are over and we have a few months left before the weather really warms up in New Jersey, people are looking for a place to get away for a winter getaway.

Luckily, there are several warm-weather vacation spots in the United States that are perfect for New Jersey residents hoping to escape the cold winter weather.

From beach destinations to tropical paradises, here are some of the best places New Jerseyans can vacation in the winter to soak up the sun and warmth.

As one of the warmest states in the United States, Florida is a no-brainer when it comes to winter vacations for New Jersey residents.

From the southern tip of the state to the panhandle, you’ll find plenty of beach towns that offer plenty of sun and warmth during the winter months.

Whether you want to laze on the beaches of Miami or party in the clubs of Fort Lauderdale, Florida has something for everyone.

Personally, I recommend Key West. This is the southernmost point where you can go on the east coast and still be in the United States. If you’ve never been there, go!

Direct flights are available from Newark and Philly in the winter. You can also fly to Miami or Fort Lauderdale and take the incredible drive on the Overseas Highway (Route 1) to the end. It’s actually the start of the road and lots of people taking pictures at the downtown “Mile 0” sign.

You can also fly to Hawaii, California or Arizona if you have the time and the plane tickets. Many Jersey residents find warmer places closer to the east coast in Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, the Bahamas, or the Virgin Islands.

Many other Jersey locals still prefer spots in Mexico, even with an ongoing war on drugs in a quasi-narco-terrorist country in some places.

Most issues aren’t usually visited at tourist sites, although places like Acapulco, which was an American favorite in years past has become a bit sketchy for many.

Cancun has dominated the pick of American tourists for decades, but just outside there may be a bit of a struggle. There is a lot of places in mexico this check very well that you may have never heard of.

Still, for my money, you can’t beat Key West. It’s not like the rest of Florida and it feels like not just another country, but sometimes another world.
