Why You Should Take Another Look At Marriott’s 30,000 Bonus Points Promotion (ENDS TODAY!)

When Craig first pointed out the current Marriott Homes & Villas promotion, I can’t say I was excited. The 30,000 bonus points (worth around $250) sounds good, but it requires a 5 night stay. When I last looked at Marriott Homes & Villas, there weren’t many choices and most places seemed expensive.

Thing is, I realized the last time I looked was literally years ago – before COVID – and things have changed a lot…

What is Marriott Homes & Villas?

Basically, it’s Marriott’s attempt to be Airbnb. You can rent thousands of apartments, houses, villas, castles, etc., in many parts of the world. Coverage isn’t comprehensive, but it’s pretty good.

The first thing that surprised me was the variety of options now available near my home in England. In Yorkshire alone, 175 properties are listed, ranging from downtown apartments in Leeds and York to cozy seaside options on the east coast, farmhouses in the Dales and grand stately homes (for over $10,000 a night !).

The image shows the locations of just 40 of the 175 options in Yorkshire.

The second thing that surprised me was how reasonably priced most properties were (despite the stately homes…). There’s a cleaning fee to add (meaning longer stays tend to offer better value), and prices vary by date/season, but it’s possible to find options in the Kingdom United for not much more than $65 per night.

If you’re only paying ~$300 for a 5-night stay, that 30,000 point bonus is starting to look like a pretty good deal!

I then started looking in cheaper parts of the world and spotted properties in countries like Poland and Turkey for as little as $20-30 a night.

In the United States, there are over 3,000 properties listed, with many options under $100 per night. Mexico also offers tremendous value.

If you could find a place you really wanted to visit anyway, the 30,000 bonus points (worth around $250) could be a massive discount – and the benefits of booking with Marriott Homes & Villas don’t end there.

Earn Marriott Points and Elite Night Credit

One of the biggest attractions of Marriott Homes & Villas is that you can earn Elite Night Credits for status purposes.

Additionally, Bonvoy members with elite status earn a small welcome bonus of:

You’ll also earn Marriott points on the rate paid – although you only earn 5 points per US dollar spent (you earn 10 points at most hotel brands). Elite bonuses also apply (i.e. 50% for Platinum members, 75% for Titanium members).

How to earn the 30,000 bonus points
