Wigan grandfather wins £2m Marbella villa and £250,000 cash for just £25 | United Kingdom | New

A grandfather from Wigan has won a £2million holiday villa in Marbella. The 57-year-old parted with just £25 for his winning entry.

Mark and his wife Deborah have been given the keys to the luxurious Spanish property, which is mortgage free and with all costs covered.

The 12,000 square foot villa is three stories tall, with four bedrooms, a large pool, and great views.

The grandfather who currently lives in Devon had participated in nine previous Omaze Million Pound House draws since the platform launched in 2020, describing the Marbella villa as a case of a ‘lucky tenth time’.

The “Marbella Superdraw”, Omaze’s first house draw outside the UK, also raised £800,000 for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Paul McKenzie, Charity Engagement Director, said: “In 2020, Teenage Cancer Trust was the first UK charity to partner with Omaze and the money raised from the first draw, to a time when our collected income fell off a cliff due to the pandemic, was truly life changing.

“Since then Omaze has proven to be a fantastic way for many other charities to raise money and donate millions of pounds to so many good causes.

“With times now more difficult than ever, we are so proud to continue our work together.”

Mark can choose to live in Marbella, rent it out or even sell it.

Upon hearing the news, Mark said: “I couldn’t believe it when Omaze called me to tell me I had won the grand prize, I was straight out of the country with the job that my wife is called – she was even more flabbergasted than me was like she had no idea I had even entered!

“I had entered nine Omaze draws before this, so my perseverance has certainly paid off – that’s ten times lucky I guess! You never imagine you’ll end up winning, but even if you don’t win nothing, you still help a very good cause, like Teenage Cancer Trust.

“I’ve never won as much as a church raffle before, so it’s really mind-blowing. This win is life changing for the whole family, the £250,000 cash offers peace of mind in these trying times – I still pinch myself.

“I’ve always struggled to balance my work and personal life, but it gives us financial stability – I love my job, but knowing I could retire tomorrow is an amazing feeling.

“The villa looks absolutely wonderful, I’m not sure what we’ll do with it yet – we’ll probably keep it for a few years so we can have a family holiday there, I’ll be dusting off my trunks soon as I’m back! I went to Spain 20 years ago for work, but never been to Marbella – sounds lovely – I’ll have to brush up on my Spanish, but I know how to order a cerveza!”

The villa is located on the Golden Mile of Marbella.
