Without further ado, here is your official survival guide for UMF 2022.

Getting to the site

One of the coolest things about Ultra is its location in the heart of downtown Miami. No need to take a shuttle or drive an hour to get there, you can either take public transport or just walk (depending on where you are staying). Get your MetroRail pass and you can take the Free MetroMover and be dropped off just outside the steps of Bayfront Park. Hours will be extended on the subway to ensure festival-goers can return home safely. Click here to more info on Miami MetroRail.

If you’re staying further from downtown Miami, you can still take I-395, but expect delays. If you are staying in Ft. Lauderdale or West Palm Beach, you can jump on the Light line and it will drop you off at Miami Central Station, a short walk from Bayside Park. Trains depart every hour and the service runs until 1am.

You can also be that person and take a water taxi (boat) to Ultra. You’ll dock at nearby Bayside, but Ultra recommends public transportation. Do not bring your personal boat (if you have one) to Ultra!

Where to stay

Ultra just shared this map of area hotels, all of which provide easy access to the festival via Miami MetroRail. Click here for a list of all miami hotels and surrounding areas with which Ultra has partnered. Nobody is stopping you from booking an Airbnb, but do it at your own risk, an Ultra verified hotel is the best solution.

what to wear

Miami is a fashionable place, but for festivals, the best way to go is function over fashion. Miami has warm temperatures with lots of sunshine and very high humidity. Wear loose, breathable clothing and be prepared to sweat. Wear comfortable sneakers/sports shoes, you’ll be dancing all day and walking upright without too many breaks, now is not the time to break out in chunky heels or be super casual with flip flops. You will want real shoes. You probably can’t go wrong with bright colors. Guys, this is your chance to wear this Hawaiian shirt.

For those ready to take their fashion to the next level, Ultra has teamed up with iHeartRaves for a very special Ultra Stylish Collection. These aren’t everyday fashions, they’re designs strictly designed to help you look your best and most unique at Ultra (or other festivals for that matter). Order online or buy products at the store that will be on site at the festival.

What to bring

Ultra is a festival that wants you to be light. As long as you only bring your wallet, keys, sunglasses, and earplugs, a fanny pack is the way to go. If you need to bring more, you’ll need a clear bag that’s no larger than 13 x 17. You can also bring hydration packs that aren’t backpacks, they’re Ultra’s recommended way. to stay hydrated. Sorry, you cannot bring your hydroflask. Ladies, you can bring a small clutch.

Besides the clear bag policy, one thing that is unique to Ultra is that no totems are allowed. Bring your flags and represent where you’re from or what label/artist you represent. Do not tie it to a post. Lockers are also available on site, order in advance to avoid queues at the festival. Click here for more information on Ultra Baggage Policies.

How to have the best time

Ultra is a massive festival and is also a great place to check out artists and scenes you might not know about. Ultra’s main stage is legendary, but check out the resistance stage, catch a set inside the mega structure. The live stage will also feature some of the biggest names in dance music including KSHMR, Madeon and Alison Wonderland, they would be on the main stage at any other festival. The Worldwide Stage will host Armin van Buuren and A State of Trance on Friday. Other artists to check out include Jauz b2b NGHTMRE, Seven Lions, Zeds Dead and many more. The UMF radio scene has also hosted tons of great scene takeovers. Some of the biggest music labels will be showcasing talent there as STMPD and Gud Vibrations will host on Friday and Saturday, respectively. Hardstyle fans rejoice as Dirty Workz will take over on Sunday.

Also, be sure to download the Ultra Passport app to register your band and set your range once set times are posted. Here is an official Ultra map to help you navigate the festival site. Explore and get out of your comfort zone, you might stumble upon a killer set and have a new favorite artist to check out.

How to festival responsibly

If you’ve ever been to a festival, you know what to do. Otherwise, it’s common sense; pace yourself, stay hydrated, know your limits, take breaks and rest your body. Leave No Trace is one of the things Ultra emphasizes the most. Ultra is doing its part to engage the community and raise awareness about keeping the ecosystem clean. In addition to taking care of your waste, Ultra asks attendees to respect plant and animal life in and around the festival. Attendees can also bring recyclable items to the festival EcoVillage for rewards. Learn more about the festival sustainability initiative, Mission: Home, here. Ultra officials are also aware of the looming threat of coronavirus, read all about the precautions officials are taking here.

Tickets are still available for Ultra Miami here. We’re less than five weeks away from what promises to be one of the festival’s biggest and best installments yet.
