A slowing economy has had a major impact on the tech industry in recent months. The mass layoffs have led to tens of thousands of workers in jobs deemed safe and well-paying packing their bags. However, among these layoffs, the industry has witnessed major reshuffles and leadership announcements globally.
Here are the 12 major leadership changes of 2022!
Meta
Meta nominated Sandhya Devanathan as India’s new leader, effective 1 January 2023. In his new role, Devanathan will report to Meta Asia-Pacific Vice President Dan Neary. The new reporting line would be a change for the company, which had previously seen Indian executives report directly to US executives.
Devanathan joined the company in 2016, expanding the company’s business in Singapore and Vietnam. He was later appointed Director and Vice President of Meta India. In 2020, the new Head of India moved to lead Meta’s gaming efforts in the Asia-Pacific region.
Adobe
Adobe named Venu Juvvala to lead its digital experience business in India. Juvvala will report to Prativa Mohapatra, vice president and general manager of Adobe India.
Previously, he was at Salesforce leading the company and was responsible for building strong relationships with CXOs and partnering with them on their digital transformation journeys. Juvvala held various positions at IBM for nearly two decades, where he was at the forefront of their cloud business, before joining Salesforce.

Boston-based AI platform DataRobot announced the appointment of Debanjan Saha as the new CEO in September. Under his leadership, the team would focus on driving the next phase of business growth, bringing innovation to customers and the AI industry.
Wipro
Named Wipro Amit Choudhary as Chief Operating Officer. Choudhary is now responsible for improving organizational effectiveness and driving sustainable growth. He will manage global business operations, delivery excellence, CIO, CISO and enterprise risk management functions while working closely with the company’s leadership teams to improve customer focus. .
In April, Wipro Limited announced the appointment of Anise Chencha as a board member of Wipro and Managing Director of APMEA. Chenchah brings over two decades of experience and has worked in IT and business services as well as consulting. Previously, Anis held the position of Global CEO of Capgemini Business Services and member of the Group Executive Committee. He holds a master’s degree in engineering from ENSISA in France.
Wipro has announced the appointment of Satya Easwaran as Country Leader for India. In his previous role, Easwaran served as Head of Business Advisory, India (Head of Telecom, Media and Technology sector) at KPMG.
As Country Head, Easwaran will strengthen the company’s business in key sectors through strategic consulting, transformation and modernization.
Microsoft India
Microsoft India appoints Irina Ghose as Chief Operating Officer replacing Rajiv Sodhi, who is moving to the United States in a global role.
In his role, Ghose will lead end-to-end operations for Microsoft in the country. She plans to use her learnings from more than two decades as a Microsoft employee to continue working with more than 14,000 partners and customers, helping the country in its digital transformation and providing skills platforms to India’s youth.
Open AI
- Greg Brockman named president
Greg Brockman was named president of OpenAI. It focuses on training the main AI systems of OpenAI.
Brockman co-founded OpenAI and was previously the CTO. Some of the most notable projects he has worked on are OpenAIFive, OpenAI APIs, OpenAIFiveand Codex.
- Mira Murati named new CTO
Mira Murati was named the new CTO, replacing Greg Brockman. His contributions have contributed to the success of DALL.E.
Previously, Mira oversaw research, product development, and deployment at OpenAI. She was also involved in hardware strategy and led the reinforcement learning and security research teams.
- Brad Lightcap named chief operating officer
Brad Lightcap was named chief operating officer. In his new role, Lightcap will work with OpenAI’s applied AI teams and his responsibilities include refining the company’s business and commercial strategies. Additionally, he will continue to manage the OpenAI Startup Fund.
Global logic
Hitachi GlobalLogic appointed its current Chief Operating Officer (COO), Nitesh Banga, as the new President and CEO. Banga has worked in all functions from strategy, go-to-market, engineering and operations, spending more than two decades in IT services and consulting company Infosys.

Gebbia, entrepreneur and designer, has spent the past fourteen years as co-founder of Airbnb.
