12 Met cops await trial for sick sex offenses – including one charged with three counts of rape

TWELVE Met Police officers are awaiting criminal trial for sex offences, The Sun reported on Sunday.

The shocking statistic comes after an explosive report on the force prompted its leader Mr Mark Rowley to admit that hundreds of his officers should be “expelled” for criminal or disgraceful behavior.

London metropolitan police admitted – under freedom of information laws – that in mid-September 12 of its officers or former officers were “awaiting court cases to be heard relating to sexual offences”.

Six officers are suspended from duty, two are placed on restricted duties and four no longer work for the force.

The Met said: “We recognize that this will cause concern. The new commissioner has been clear that there will be a vigorous response to officers who corrupt the integrity of the Met.

The force – Britain’s largest – has not named any of the 12, but a former cop is due to stand trial next month.

The man, of Essexis charged with three counts of rape and one of ‘causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity’ in Lilleshall, Shrops, in July.

He is in remand awaiting trial at Shrewsbury Crown Court.

A PC based in Enfield, north London, has been charged with more than a dozen offenses including four counts of sexual activity with a child aged between 13 and 15.

The cop was arrested in July and suspended.

He was also charged with broadcasting indecent images of a child, among the offenses which allegedly occurred between 2019 and 2021.

A 46-year-old Met Police firearms officer who guarded the Prime Minister in Downing Street is facing trial for rape.

He denied the charge in a trial court this month, but was remanded in custody.

The Met’s damning report this week found cops avoided sacking despite complaints of sexual abuse, sharing graphic images, discrimination and dishonesty.

The inquest, led by Baroness Casey of Blackstock, found the force’s misconduct system to be racist, misogynistic and inappropriate.

The investigation – ordered after serving a cop Wayne Couzens kidnapped, raped and murdered Sarah Everard in March 2021 – relied solely on internal malpractice hearings.

The interim report revealed that 1,800 serving police and staff were allowed to remain on duty despite multiple beatings for misconduct.

A current serving police officer has faced 11 misconduct cases involving abuse, sexual harassment, fraud and showing an explicit image of himself.

After it was published, Sir Mark spoke of his “shame” and confessed to having “shed a tear” when reading drafts in advance.

He added: “There must be hundreds of officers who are behaving in a disgraceful manner, compromising our integrity and should be expelled.”

His predecessor Cressida Dick resigned in February following a number of high-profile scandals involving force, including cases of sexism and misogyny.

A spokesperson for victims’ charity The Survivors Trust said of the Baroness Casey Inquiry: “The vast majority of people who have been victims of rape and sexual abuse do not report what is happening to them. arrived at the police.

“This latest news will do nothing to increase survivors’ confidence in the police and risks seriously undermining some of the good work some police forces are doing to support survivors.”

Today we can also reveal:

  • The chief met Sir Mark is now planning to meet ex-cop whistleblower Dave Eden, who exposed a toxic culture in the unit where Couzens worked.
  • Mr Eden says a ‘canteen culture’ of racism and sexism has moved online to Facebook and WhatsApp groups.
  • A former Met Police artist has announced sketches of ‘c***s, nudes and b***s” for the inside of police caps and helmets to officers on a private Facebook group.

A survey shows problems with racism, suspension and inappropriate behavior in police forces nationwide.

Mr Eden secretly kept an archive of sick footage of former and serving members of the Met’s Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Unit, where Couzens was working when he killed 33-year-old Sarah.

In 2016, Mr. Eden, who retired in 2010, joined a Facebook group of serving and retired Met officers, then a WhatApp group called The Old Boys Beer Meet.

After Sarah’s murder, retired officer Rob Lewis published an old Highway code poster make fun of the murder.

Another member of the band replied, “Sick bastard – only a few people I can send this to who will find it as funny as we do.”

Mr Eden, 62, said: ‘When Couzens murdered Sarah the call went out if anyone knew him which suggests there were protection officers on duty with the group.

The canteen culture of racism, misogyny, homophobia and bullying has migrated to private social media groups and now operates stealthily.

Mr Eden spoke publicly about retired protection officer Lewis – now a Border Force worker – and was blocked from the group.

Lewis was later suspended by the Home Office and arrested by police this month for alleged offenses under the Communications Act and misconduct in public office.

He was released on bail pending further inquiries until a date next month.

Rogue cop numbers

  • 12 police officers are tried for sexual offenses
  • One of them faces 11 misconduct charges… and is still in force
  • 1,800 jobs kept after misconduct charges

Our investigation revealed that a retired Met artist was offering rough sketches to the 2,500 members of the Metropolitan Police Serving And Retired Facebook group.

The ad read, “I get asked, pretty much every day, if I can draw certain adult-themed illustrations (c***s, nudes, b***s) and all the other depraved artwork officers want inside their flat caps.

The £160 images were aimed at maintaining what is said to be a tradition of ‘pimping’ headgear among cops at the Met.

But a Facebook group whistleblower said: ‘Some Neanderthal officers drew crude designs inside the headbands of their caps and helmets.

“Imagine how that would appear to a woman who was sexually assaulted? In light of Sarah Everard’s murder, it’s even more appalling.

The group also warned members that it could be infiltrated by officers from the new Met Course of action-style internal investigations unit.

An administrator of the closed group told members: ‘There is someone within the group who reports certain messages and members to the Met and certain serving officers are then investigated or reminded of the policy of the Put on social media.

“I urge everyone in service to think carefully about what you say and all retirees to consider whether your comments could potentially cause problems for those in service.”

Shadow Interior Secretary yvette cooper said: “We need urgent action to stamp out all abuse and misconduct and to raise standards.”

While backing Sir Mark’s purge, Police Federation chairman Ken Marsh said: ‘We must remember that 99 per cent of our officers do an incredible job every day to protect the public and must be careful of what a witch hunt against the police in general is not executed. »

Another whistleblower told us that band members reacted angrily this week to the Casey report and Sir Mark’s comments.
