Camping, hotels, tiny house, airbnb, other ways to stay
The Indianapolis Motor Speedway continues to offer new ways to enjoy a time at the Indy 500. Here’s a quick breakdown of ways to enjoy your time at Speedway, Indiana.
Airbnb
1. There is a single room available for $60 per night. It has a private bathroom. That’s it. It is therefore a very good option for an individual. Hard to beat this price.
2. An entire apartment suitable for six guests go for $823 per night. Plus, there’s this in the listing: “Did I mention the apartment comes with a bar fitted with a single tap and will include a keg of your choice when renting.” So it’s a good deal. This comes to $137 per person per night.
3. If you are looking for an entire house, one for eight people with three bedrooms goes for $795 per night. It’s just about $100 per person per night.
Hotels
Most hotel rooms nearest SMI are already booked for the week of the Indy 500. But here is an option at a reasonable distance from the track.
the Waterfront Hotel and Conference Center, eight minutes from the IMS, costs $306 per night for a double room. With fees, that’s going to bring it to around $180 per person per night.
Candlewood Suites at the Indianapolis Airport, located 6 km from the IMS, is go for around $157 per night for a room with a queen bed.
Small house
The 4 nights 4 people package announced Monday morning includes four general admission tickets for Carb Day, Legends Day and Indy 500 Race Day. Then there is the little house itself, complete with dining table, fridge, electricity, personal shower, flush toilet and stove.
In total, the Tiny House Hotel package for four people and four nights costs $3,000. This works out to around $187 per person per night.
Glamping at IMS
Glamour (“Glamorous camping”!) is a bit cheaper than the Tiny House Hotel route. For a twin bed package, the price for four nights is $1,200. The queen bed costs $1,500, or about $187 per person per night. This package also includes tickets to Carb Day, Legends Day and Indy 500 Race Day.
Indy 500 travel isn’t cheap no matter what arrangements you make.
(Not glam) Camping at IMS
For a base two-day camping pass in Lot C (there are several courts), the cost is $80. Less glamour, less money.
