Stay in a psychedelic snake-shaped Airbnb with rooms connected by a maze of tunnels

Quetzalcoatl’s Nest is an incredible snake-shaped apartment complex that blends into the rocky terrain – and has even earned a spot on Netflix’s “World’s Most Beautiful Vacation Rentals”.

It is located in Mexico

If you are looking for a unique place to stay, we have the perfect place for you.

Hidden deep in the depths of Naucalpan, Mexico is a one-of-a-kind architectural wonder that deserves a spot on your bucket list.

Quetzalcoatl’s Nest – named after the feathered Aztec serpent god, Quetzalcoatl – is a fantastic serpent-shaped structure that houses 10 private apartments in a secret garden.

When Mexican architect Javier Senosiain, the mastermind behind the building, received the land to design one of his masterpieces, he had no intention of building a multi-colored snake. He wanted to design something that would complement the pitch – but he did.

Javier used the natural caves and the curves of the terrain to construct the ethereal, intricately decorated and vividly colored sculpture that winds in and out of the landscape.

One of the apartments, which can sleep up to six people in four bedrooms, is open to guests for rent through Airbnb.

In accordance with the principle, each of the rooms is connected by various tunnels to allow the entry of maximum light and there are no doors – except for the main entrance.

Breakfast is included in the booking price and private tours of the extensive Botanical Gardens can be arranged with host Patricia, whose innate knowledge of the land and architecture makes this a fascinating daytime activity.

Patricia loves giving her guests a tour of the property – and for many it becomes a highlight of their stay at Quetzalcoatl’s Nest.

The tour can easily turn into a 3-4 hour adventure if the guests are ready. And Patricia’s pace is deliberately slow. She will show the snake’s mouth built around a natural cave, invite guests to observe the different flowers and trees, notice the vivid colors of the leaves, the sounds of the forest and the variety of textures, both natural and man-made.

The residence was even featured in the first season of Netflix’s “World’s Most Amazing Vacation Rentals”.

The inscription, describing itself as “paradise in the city”, is “perfect for anyone who enjoys nature, silence, woods, architecture, and someone who wants to reclaim their capacity for wonder” .

It has a park with botanical gardens, a mineral cave and lakes to go around. It is a perfect place for small groups on retreat, to write, meditate, do yoga, walk, rest.

Prices start from $ 547 (£ 401) per night. More information can be found here.
