Police are investigating the ‘rape’ of a woman in her twenties after she was approached by four men in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Detectives are calling for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward following the reported attack in Bournemouth town centre.

Dorset Police received a report at around 3.05am on Sunday that a woman was approached by four unknown men at Wootton Gardens and later raped.

The group of men were described as Turkish with black beards and all wore black. The victim is assisted by specially trained officers.

Detective Inspector Katie Starkie said: ‘A full and detailed investigation has been launched by detectives and a cordon is in place at the scene.

“I appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident or saw suspicious activity in the area to please come forward.

“I also urge residents with home CCTV or motorists who were traveling in the area with a dash cam to check their footage for anything relevant to help our investigation.

“This incident will naturally raise concern for the community, and I would like to remind the public that there will be an increased police presence in the town center as investigations continue.

“Officers may be approached by members of the public with any information or concerns.”
