Aer Lingus has canceled all scheduled flights from its hub at Dublin Airport to European countries and the UK due to a computer malfunction. The carrier said the outage affected 51 flights.
“A UK network provider serving the cloud-based system experienced a major connectivity breakdown,” the Dublin-based carrier said in a statement.
The airline later restored its IT system and said it was taking steps to bring all of its systems back online, adding that it “sincerely apologizes” to its customers.
RyanAir, an Irish low-cost airline, said it was offering “rescue fares” of €100 for passengers stranded at Dublin, Cork and Shannon airports. He tweeted pictures of the lines in Dublinshowing hundreds of people lined up at his kiosks.
Aer Lingus is asking customers who have booked on canceled flights not to travel to Dublin Airport and has urged them to change their travel plans free of charge via its call center or on social media.
