Aeroflot signs an agreement of intent with UAC for 339 aircraft

Aeroflot has signed an agreement of intent with United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) of Rostec State Corporation for the purchase of 339 aircraft.
The agreement is for 210 MC-21 aircraft, 89 SSJ-NEW aircraft and 40 Tu-214 aircraft to Aeroflot Group under lease terms with deliveries scheduled from 2023 to 2030.
The agreement stipulates that Aeroflot will receive the first two Superjet-NEW aircraft in 2023, with deliveries of the first six MC-21 aircraft and the first seven Tu-214 aircraft to begin in 2024.

“We have signed the biggest agreement on the purchase of Russian-made aircraft in Aeroflot’s recent history,” said Sergey Aleksandrovsky, CEO of PJSC Aeroflot. “This is an important step that kick-starts and influences future prospects for the development of civil aviation in Russia… The signing of this agreement clearly demonstrates to the world that Russia remains a great aeronautical power with enormous potential and rich experience in the field of aeronautical construction, capable of producing reliable and modern aircraft.
The MC-21 is a new generation medium-haul aircraft with a capacity of 163 to 211 passengers. The aircraft is developed by the Engineering Center of Irkut Corporation and is manufactured by the Irkutsk Aircraft Plant. The MC-21 features a composite wing, metal alloys, next-generation on-board systems, advanced aerodynamics and the latest PD-14 engine.
The Superjet 100 is a regional jet that can carry 98 passengers up to 3,000 km with the base model and up to 4,500 km with the extended range version.
“Given the unprecedented volume of the contract, its execution becomes one of the main priorities of UAC for the coming years, since the accessibility of transport of Russian regions and the mobility of the population of our country largely depend on it. Given the importance of the tasks entrusted to us, we expect to sign first firm contacts for the delivery of aircraft in 2023-2025 before the end of this year,” said Yury Slyusar, General Manager of United Aircraft Corporation.
