Airbnb names Malaga as the most trending travel destination for 2023

Malaga is the number one tourist destination in 2023, according to a popular international travel agency.

Prior to 2023, Airbnb released a list of the top ten trending destinations for travelers based on the popularity of trips booked through Airbnb in the past year.

Malaga topped the list and was the only European city to feature in the top ten.

Sydney and Melbourne in Australia finished second and third, while Auckland and Bangkok completed the top five.

The rest of the top ten included: Queenstown, New Zealand; Florianopolis, Brazil; Porto Seguro, Brazil; Perth, Australia and El Salvador, Brazil.

Malaga’s popularity has surged following the pandemic, with the Andalusian port city experiencing a tourism boom.

Tourists have spent more money than before the pandemic in Andalusia over the past few holidays, according to figures from Spain’s National Institute of Statistics.

United Airlines will also begin flying direct between New York and Malaga this year as the city considered the gateway to Spain’s Costa del Sol gains popularity.

There will be three weekly flights to the US capital from May 31 next year until the end of September 2023.
