Airbnb Partners with Sonoma County Regenerative Cannabis Farm to Offer Overnight Stays

Airbnb has partnered with Sonoma County Craft Cannabis Farm Sonoma Hills Farm to offer exclusive overnight stays in a neighboring property overlooking the farm. The property is a private residence and the only way to access the stay is through Airbnb. According to Airbnb, gross non-city nights booked increased nearly 45% from the fourth quarter of 2019, which is good news for the booming cannabis tourism industry.

Sonoma Hills Farm is an artisanal cannabis farm and organic culinary garden on 60 acres in the Petaluma Gap appellation of Sonoma Valley. The farm’s cannabis flower is grown in regenerative agriculture, a holistic practice intended to restore the health of soil matter.

As part of the stay, Sonoma Hills Farm Vice President of Cannabis Cultivation and Production, Aaron Keefer, will give guests a tour of the farm’s culinary vegetable garden and hemp garden. Along with his background growing cannabis, Keefer also has a decade of experience at The French Laundry in nearby Napa, California.

There is a catch – due to legal regulations and limitations, guests will not visit a cannabis grow or interact with cannabis during their stay. Scenic views of the farm and purchase of farm wares at nearby dispensaries will have to be done until California regulations regarding cannabis farm tours and tourism change to allow tours and sampling on the grounds of a working cannabis farm.

Even if the regulations are prohibitive, it’s a good sign for the future of cannabis tourism that a large corporation has put its mark on a cannabis partnership in some way.

“Our goal is to normalize the cultivation of hemp and cannabis by demonstrating that it is like any other plant, with benefits for humans and the earth. By providing an insider’s look at how we carefully grow our produce – whether it’s vegetables or cannabis strains – we hope to provide a stay that is both relaxing and rewarding,” Keefer said. “By connecting with the land, guests will leave with a different perspective than when they arrived and will have supported our farm in a meaningful way.”

It costs $60 per night, excluding taxes and fees, in honor of the farm’s 60-acre culinary garden. All three one-night stays will be from Saturday, April 30 through Tuesday, May 3 for California residents 21 and older. While on the farm, guests will enjoy lush accommodations including stunning farm views, a wood-burning fireplace, and a private pool; life on a regenerative farm, which includes visiting farm animals and gardening; access to fresh farm produce and a farm kitchen where they can prepare meals; Locally made CBD products, such as Green Bee Botanicals, Potli, Rose Los Angeles and Jane West, as well as candles from Garden Society.

Prospective guests can request to book these unique one-night stays on April 20 at 10 a.m. PT at airbnb.com/cannabisfarm.

As a thank you for this night, Airbnb will make a donation to International Regeneration to support their mission to reverse global warming and end world hunger by facilitating and accelerating the global transition to regenerative agriculture and land management.
