Airbnb reveals the hottest travel destinations of 2023
Recently, Airbnb published his discoveries on where travelers have been in 2022 and where they plan to go in 2023. At a time of year when it’s colder and darker in much of the United States, Airbnb travelers were — and still are – looking for places that are warmer, sunnier and wetter.

In 2022, the top consideration for Airbnb travelers — besides escaping the cold — appears to have been proximity to water. Among the top ten categories of Airbnb stays were Swimming pool at number one followed by Beach (2), seafront (6), surf spot (8), and house by the lake (9). Even frozen water is on the list with Ski station (ten). The Iconic city category (3) also saw a lot of action.
Airbnb categories were originally created to help travelers find unique properties. The company’s latest additions include The roof of the world, TendencySuitable for wheelchair access, To playand Hanok (a traditional Korean house).
According to Airbnb, 2022 has also seen an increase in extended stays at US properties for foreign travelers, many of whom come from London, Toronto, Paris, Seoul and Mexico City. And when they come, they stay a while. Over the latter part of the year, the fastest growing trip length for foreign travelers was stays of 28 nights or more.

And now on to the emerging Airbnb trends of 2023. The company has compiled a list of its top international travel destinations for the year ahead. Just like domestic stays, heat and water are once again among the priorities of travellers. Here is a top 10 places people plan to go according to Airbnb.
