Airbnb to block users under 25 from booking homes in their area in hopes of cutting the holidays – CBS Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) – In hopes of reducing unauthorized parties, Airbnb is now banning guests under the age of 25 from booking full homes in their area, the company said Thursday.
“Reducing the number of unauthorized home parties on Airbnb has always been a priority, and it’s more important than ever,” Airbnb said.

Users under the age of 25 with less than three positive reviews will not be allowed to book full accommodations “near” their place of residence.
However, users can still book any type of ad outside of their local area, the company said.
Airbnb said it launched the same initiative in Canada earlier this year, and since then the number of unauthorized parties hosted by guests under the age of 25 has seen a “significant drop.”

Last week, Airbnb announced a new compliance system to help the city of Los Angeles enforce its home sharing ordinance and support tourism growth.
