Already thinking about next year’s travel plans?

Airbnb has revealed its best destination predictions for next year – both overseas and in the UK.

Already the Brits have sought and booked, with Spain, France, New Zealand and Australia all trending.

And it seems people are either looking for shorter, cheaper destinations or larger scale trips.

Also, after what will be a frugal winter for many, stays are expected to remain strong.

According to Airbnb, Tyne and Wear should be the most popular place on British soil where we will vacation.

Overall, the North of England and Scotland seem to be popular choices for domestic holidays, while Spanish hotspots top the list of trending international destinations.

  2. Edinburgh, Scotland
  3. West Yorkshire, England
  4. Cardiff, Wales
  5. Newport, England
  6. Merseyside, England
  7. Derbyshire, England
  8. Manchester, England

Airbnb has found that many are looking to escape the cold, favoring tropical destinations this winter – which could explain why Australia ranks high, as it has just entered its summer period.

Amanda Cupples, managing director for Northern Europe at Airbnb, said: ‘Our data shows that British holidaymakers are exploring both the nearest and farthest corners of the globe for their 2023 getaways, the northern England and Scotland are proving particularly popular for domestic holidays, while sunny Spanish hotspots top the list of trending international destinations.

“As the cold sets in, we often see an increase in searches for sunnier climes – and this year was no exception – with the beach and pool categories proving the most popular for bookings over the festive period. “
