Airbnb vacation rental lookalike ‘Squid Game’ scares fans

An Airbnb vacation rental in Spain is getting a lot of attention because it looks suspiciously like the stairs seen on the Netflix sensation “Squid Game”.

Known as ‘La Muralla Roja’ which translates to the Red Wall, the apartment complex was designed by Ricardo Bofill in 1968 and built in 1973 – long before the acclaimed spectacle made its way onto our home screens. television.

Resembling a fortress or a labyrinth, the reinterpretation of the Kasbah and the adobe buildings of North Africa offers three types of residences: studios and apartments with two and three bedrooms.

Fifty houses are scattered around the complex and accessed by a collection of patios and stairs.

The colorful walls and spectacular setting are located atop rocky cliffs overlooking the Balearic Sea in Manzanera, Calpe.

Previously, vibrant colors are what gave La Muralla Roja its name and fame (before “Squid Game”). The various shades of red on the exterior contrast with the landscape while the light blue, indigo and purple colors painted on the patios and stairs were meant to blend into the sky.
