Airbnb’s international travel destinations in 2023 may surprise

At some point in 2022, you’ve probably heard at least one person joke that everyone they know is in Italy. And honestly, that kinda sounded like the truth – for many of us, there was at least one friend, family member, or colleague who had been there at some point. And while the fervor is unlikely to die down any time soon, Airbnb’s most popular destinations for international travel in 2023 actually reveal that, at least on its platform, Italy is not not even a top contender for where people are looking to go in the new year.

In a report on the main destinations in 2022 and the 2023 travel trends published by Airbnb on November 30, the vacation rental brand detailed on its site the popular places sought by Internet users. Looking at searches done in Q1-Q3 2022 for future 2023 records versus searches done in Q1-Q3 2021 for 2022 records, he arrived at the aforementioned list of trends. Thereupon, there is no Italy in sight – in fact, Europe only took one place in the entire roundup.

On the contrary, in 2023, Airbnb users seem to be particularly interested in a few countries in particular. While Malaga, Spain came out on top, Australia actually appeared three times (out of 10). So did Brazil, and New Zealand made the list twice. Apart from Spain, Thailand was the only other country to appear once.

These trending travel spots are definitely worth reading; yet they are also a great way to find inspiration for your travels 2023 as well. So continue to find Airbnb’s full list from the report, as well as vacation listings in every location TZR covets. Have a good trip!
