But after opening the blinds the next morning, the American was shocked to find her bedroom window opened directly onto the hotel restaurant with a couple close at hand.

“How is that legal? You literally can’t make it up. I can open the window and touch their table, ”she said on TIC Tac, laughing.

When she booked the room through Airbnb, the photos showed a sunny room with a “nice” view of the city.

“The photos I saw when I booked looked good. It was more than I needed, I just needed a bed to sleep on… It’s well located, it’s perfect. I thought it was a great place to stay, ”she said.

However, the room was not what she expected in real life.

“When we got here it was midnight, it was dark and we just went to bed,” she explained.

“When we woke up there were blackout blinds so you couldn’t see anything. I was so excited to open the window to see the view. I thought I was going to see a building, a skyline or whatever.

“I roll up the blinds… and we are in a restaurant. We are fully in a restaurant. I can open this window and fully join these people at their dinner… at their lunch.

Desiree decided to contact the host to request a refund, claiming that the room she had reserved was “completely inaccurate”.

But the host replied, “Sorry I took a little time to get back to you, actually we were going to cancel your reservation because we had room issues, but we were able to accommodate you.”

“I think everything went well during your stay and I’m happy to know that we were able to accommodate you at this time of year.”

However, an Airbnb representative reached out to Desiree after finding out about her hotel experience through TikTok.

“Needless to say, this definitely shocked us and it’s not the experience we want our guests to have,” the Airbnb representative wrote to Desiree.

“We will definitely follow up with your host here, but we just wanted to make sure you were taken care of.

“It looks like your check out date is today (December 20th) so I imagine there is nothing we can do to sort out your current booking, but I would be happy to offer you a coupon on a future Airbnb stay or maybe be a discount on part of your original stay as a cash refund.

Despite her unhappy stay, Desiree said she was “happy” with the outcome.
