Are thieves targeting bachelorette parties in Nashville?

For bachelorette parties, there is no destination hipper than the city of music. Social media is full of brides-to-be and their best friends celebrate in NashvilleTennessee.

But an Inside Edition investigation found that when singles arrive on the Strip at night, thieves swoop in and target their rental homes and apartments.

Some brides are even warning others to stay away from Nashville after their rental properties were broken into in what they believe are targeted attacks.

Cassidy Mathes and her girlfriends, all from Cincinnati, rented an apartment east of Nashville for Cassidy’s bachelorette party. After decorating, they bundled up in vintage wedding dresses for a night out on the town.

Ring video shows them exiting, but just an hour later several trucks arrived and two men entered. The thieves emerged with their loot about a minute later.

Singles say they lost $10,000 in the heist.

“We come in with suitcases and suitcases of beautiful clothes, jewelry and valuables. The second we leave, they move. It’s very calculated, it’s very thoughtful,” one woman said.

Mathes’ mother was with the girls that night and says she is still in shock.

“It was awful. It was awful. I was just in complete disbelief. I couldn’t believe this was really happening,” she said.

The person who rented the house to them says he fully reimbursed the group’s expenses and installed new locks the day after the burglary.

Texas bride Michelle Johnson and her sister Monica say they returned home to find the door to their rented Nashville home broken and the burglar still inside.

“I was terrified because I felt very responsible for the girls. My biggest concern was to get everyone out of the house as much as possible,” Monica said.

Little did the women know, police have responded to 13 other burglaries at this rental property alone in the past year and a half. So far, they have yet to make an arrest in this case.

“There’s no follow-up, so I’m sure that person could go back and get away with it just as easily as they did,” Johnson said.

The Metro Nashville Police Department said Nashville is safe and reminds visitors to lock their doors and not let their guard down.
