Around $50,000 in damage to Airbnb home in Burlington neighborhood

Police are investigating the vandalism of Airbnb.

Halton police are investigating after approximately $50,000 worth of damage was caused to an Airbnb residence in Burlington, allegedly by a tenant.

The damage reportedly occurred at Old York Road home at some point between Sunday, Dec. 11 and Saturday, Dec. 17, police said.

The homeowner reportedly returned home to find damaged furniture and light fixtures, shattered glass door frames and a damaged pool table.

Police say a security camera on the property was ripped from the wall.

The investigation is continuing and no charges have been laid at this time.

The police are also looking for the individuals responsible for breaking into a Vandenburgh Road residence.

At some point during the night between Monday Dec. 19 and Tuesday Dec. 20, at least two suspects approached the dwelling and forced open a side door leading to the garage, police said.

The intruders stole four bicycles, but one was later found on a trail near the residence. The stolen bikes are valued at around $7,000.

No detailed description of the suspects is available, with police only noting that they were wearing dark jackets.
