At least 4 dead, 3 others injured after shooting in Memphis

At least four people are dead and three others injured after a man carried out a shooting in the US city of Memphis, Tennessee on Wednesday evening (local time).

The suspect, Ezekiel Kelly, 19, was arrested by police after allegedly carrying out attacks at what Memphis police say are “at least eight different crime scenes.”

One of the shootings was broadcast live on Facebook.

The live broadcaster tells the camera “it’s not a joke” before entering an auto parts store and shooting a customer inside.

Several US media reported that Kelly was arrested after crashing into a stolen car and sustaining injuries.

Fox13 Memphis reports that at least five people were shot at the auto parts store where the suspect was live streaming from.

Shortly after noon (New Zealand time), a Memphis reporter reported that the suspect “allegedly stole a gray Toyota SUV from his car.” Shortly after, the police confirmed this news.

Just after 2 p.m., Memphis police tweeted that the area surrounding two roads had been locked down.

WREG News in Memphis reported the suspect was at an impasse with police in the locked area.

Shortly after, the police confirmed that they had arrested the suspect.
