Benidorm Pride Festival returns to full glory after pandemic restrictions on Spain’s Costa Blanca

The BENIDORM Pride Festival begins on Monday with a return to high style celebrations which have been canceled due to the Covid pandemic.

An extensive program of events has been organized for the 12e Pride Festival between September 5 and 11.

Organizers and Benidorm council are expecting 20,000 visitors over the six days, including people from the UK, France and Italy.

Six themed evenings will take place as well as many events in more than 40 gay-friendly places as well as the Grand Parade.

More than 20 floats will be in the parade on Saturday September 10, including vintage cars and motorcycles.

The procession begins at 5:00 p.m. and will descend Paseo de Levante and part of Avenida Mediterraneo before reaching the Julio Iglesias Auditorium in Parque de l’Aiguera.

Benidorm Events Councilor Jesus Carrobles said: “Benidorm Pride is one of our city’s benchmark events, attracting visitors and bringing a much-needed splash of color after what we’ve been through in recent years. .”

Pride was canceled due to the pandemic in 2020 and only a token party could be held last year.

One of the Pride organisers, Santos Torres, said: “Benidorm has always been a benchmark for the LGBTI community, helped by events such as Benidorm Fest and Benidorm Pride Festival in recent years.
