Billionaire Airbnb CEO has listed a room in his own San Francisco home for sale for short-term stays

Airbnb co-founder and CEO Brian Chesky gives you a chance to sleep where the vacation rental company began. The billionaire listed a ‘carefully crafted sequel’ in his own San Francisco residence for weekend getaways in an effort to entice more luxury home owners to become hosts on the platform.

“You’ll spend time with me and Sophie, my golden retriever, as I share stories from early days — or you can relax in your suite, decorated with some of my favorite pieces from Airbnb history,” wrote Chesky on the list.

With a panoramic view of the local Castro neighborhood, the corner room includes a queen-size bed – an upgrade from the original airbed Chesky had when the startup was developing – an armchair, a computer and two spacious closets. In addition, you will have access to a shared bathroom with a large shower. According to Chesky, you can also head upstairs to the chef’s kitchen to cook something up or relax in the spacious living room with floor-to-ceiling windows.

Like any other Airbnb host, Chesky has added some house rules for guests to follow, such as “no smoking” and “no parties or events.” He also clarifies that “customers must like dogs. Or at least Sophia. The most amazing part, however, is that booking a weekend at the CEO’s is free, that is, if you can find a date.

There are currently no weekends available until October 2024. This has prompted the Twittersphere to consider “Beyond the Airbed” a publicity stunt rather than an actual listing. However, Chesky, who co-founded Airbnb with Nathan Blecharczyk and Joe Gebbia in 2008, was quick to respond to naysayers on social media.

“I had weekends available in January, February and March, but they booked up before I even posted this,” the CEO said. tweeted. “I will continue to open more weekends throughout the year.”

Let’s see if Chesky keeps his word.
