Care home nurses help after children hit by van, Merseyside Police say | United Kingdom | New

Nurses from a nursing home rushed to help a young woman and five children who were hit by a van yesterday.

Two of the youngsters, aged seven and four, and the woman were taken to hospital with minor injuries after the crash in Kirkdale, Liverpool. When the white van collided with the group, a number of nurses from the adjacent care home rushed to the scene first.

Kiri Houghton, care home manager at Kavanagh Place complex, said: “Our nurses offered support following a traffic incident near our care home at Kavanagh Place complex this morning. We We are thinking of those involved and wish them a speedy recovery, and will continue to assist the authorities in their investigation.”

Witnesses reported seeing the nurses giving medical attention to people on the road.

The woman in her 20s remains in hospital for observation at the time of writing.

The driver stopped at the scene and is helping the police with investigations, reports Echo of Liverpool.

But the gendarmerie said no one had been arrested in connection with the incident.

A cordon was put in place on Westminster Road and Rumney Road, while police carried out inquiries yesterday.

Merseyside Police are appealing for any witnesses, CCTV and dash cam footage that may assist their investigation into this incident.
