Champlain College will celebrate its next chapter with the inauguration of Alex Hernandez as 10th President

Three days of campus events highlight intent to “Build a Better Future”

Vermont Business Magazine Champlain College begins the next chapter in its 144-year history with the inauguration of 10th President Alejandro (“Alex”) Hernandez. Setting a course to “build a better tomorrow,” Champlain will bring his core values ​​of innovation, inclusiveness and engaged learning to life over three days of conversation and celebration from November 3-5, 2022.

A community celebration, four fireside chats and the official ribbon-cutting ceremony will weave together themes of uplifting people and communities, human in an increasingly digital world, expanding leadership of Champlain in science and what it means to be “Champlain Ready”. Under Hernandez’s leadership, Champlain College prepares students to be ready for work, ready for life, and ready to make a difference so they can build a better future for themselves, Vermont, and the world.

The November festivities will mark the most diverse inauguration the College has hosted, celebrating a diverse group of speakers and Hernandez as Champlain College’s first Latino President. Hernandez’s values ​​of interdependence and inclusive communities will be a common theme represented at these engaging events.
