Ciera Breland reported missing | Johns Creek’s husband is in jail

Ciera Breland was reported missing on February 26.

JOHNS CREEK, Ga. — It has been three weeks since an Indianapolis attorney was reported missing and her husband, a person involved in the case, is currently being held in the Coweta County Jail on unrelated charges, according to the sheriff’s office.

Ciera Breland’s last known location was in Johns Creek, Georgia, last month with her 37-year-old husband, Xavier Breland, and baby. The 31-year-old player was reported missing to police in Carmel, Indiana on February 26.

On Thursday, 11Alive confirmed that Xavier Breland is being held in Georgia after being extradited to the state. He had previously been arrested in Indiana on an aggravated harassment charge in connection with a Newnan, Georgia case involving his ex-wife. He is now charged with aggravated criminal harassment, breach of a domestic violence order and failure to appear.

Ciera Breland’s husband was the last known person to have seen her, according to authorities. Still, investigators could find no sign of the woman. Detectives told family members on March 11 that they were able to find her at a house in Highgate Manor Court in the Johns Creek area and learned she was last there on February 24. Breland left after that date.

The search for her now spans two states, with police in Carmel, Indiana working with authorities in Georgia.

Below is a timeline of events.

11Alive has confirmed that Breland’s husband is being held in Coweta County Jail on charges unrelated to his disappearance. He was notified on Wednesday.

“It’s not like she’s disappearing, she’s very close to her family, she talks to them all the time,” Lt. Deb Kalish of the Johns Creek Police Department previously said.

The couple have a five-month-old child who is now in the care of child protective services.

“She’s a mom with a young child,” Kalish said. “As a mom, I can’t imagine leaving my baby behind. So yeah, we take it very seriously, and so does the Indiana Police Department. We’re worried, we’re looking for her, it’s not not normal for someone to leave without any contact.

Breland’s family surveyed the areas of Johns Creek where police said she and her husband had been during a visit in February. They distributed flyers and searched homes and businesses with security cameras that may have recorded video of Breland and her husband.

The FBI is offering a $10,000 reward in the case.

Johns Creek Police are urging anyone who may have information about Breland to call Corporal Rozier at 678-372-8046.
