Cincinnati Recognized by Airbnb, Named One of the “Best Equipped” Destinations

CINCINNATI (WXIX) – Cincinnati has been named one of the top five destinations in the United States for digital nomads and Airbnb hosts, according to an Airbnb report.

The queen city was ranked third out of five for being one of the “best equipped” cities for Airbnb residents and hosts, Airbnb reported. Cincinnati sits just below Los Angeles, CA (#2) and Irvine, CA (#1) in the rankings.

The “best equipped” destinations were chosen based on the highest share of extended stay listings and cities and towns with at least 1,000 active listings in the first quarter of 2022.

While digital nomads, itinerant remote workers, have been around since the 1990s, the number of people in the United States who identify as such has increased by 49% since 2019, according to a study by MBO Partners.

MBO partners reported that in 2019, 7.3 million Americans considered themselves digital nomads, but as soon as remote working became the new norm, that number jumped to 10.9 million in 2020.

As COVID-19 vaccines began rolling out to the public in 2021 and people returned to the office, the number of digital nomads rose to 15.5 million, according to research conducted by Project Untethered.

According to nomadic listthe number of these traveling teleworkers has increased since 2021 and is expected to remain stable over the next few years.
