DFS delay raises fears parents are ‘eating Christmas dinner off the floor’ | United Kingdom | New

A woman has shared her frustration after a sofa delivery got ‘lost in transit’, leaving her disabled parents facing the prospect of eating their Christmas dinner on the floor.

Samantha Catlow, 34, says she bought her own sofa from DFS and “had no problems” before deciding to order one for her parents.

Speaking to the echo of Liverpool, Samantha explained that on October 17, she placed an order with DFS for a new parent sofa and chair for her parents Sharon Connor, 51, and Terrence Connor, 57, both of whom are disabled. The items came to a total of £1,587.

Samantha said: “They have various health issues so I ordered something that would be more comfortable and easier to clean.

“I know these things take time. I kept checking online and by December 1 the sofa and chair had arrived at the depot. So I booked a delivery for [Monday] December 5.”

In preparation for the delivery, Samantha’s parents paid £150 to have their old furniture removed the day before as it was ‘unsuitable’. The charge was higher as it was a Sunday. However, around 6 p.m. on the evening of December 4, Samantha received a phone call from DFS telling her that they had “lost” the sofa and the chair.

“It’s totally unacceptable,” says Samantha. “DFS keeps telling me they’re going to get someone to call me back, or they’re still trying to find them.”
