City law enforcement made 369 arrests last week – nearly a quarter of them for drunk driving – and issued 63,074 fines.
the Traffic department alone made 121 arrests, including 76 for driving under the influenceseized 110 public transport vehicles and executed 963 arrest warrants.
Officers also recorded 55,940 transgressions.
Meanwhile, in its first week, Operation Exodus saw a total of 463 buses, mini and midi buses and trailers suffer security checks.
Vehicle checkpoints related to operation around major public transport interchanges saw 1,994 vehicles stopped and 8,051 fines issued.
Last week’s statistics paint a bittersweet picture. On the positive side, nearly 500 public transport vehicles were subjected to security checks as part of Operation Exodus.

the Public Emergency Communication Center recorded 2,263 incidents over the weekend, including 238 cases of assault, 67 incidents of domestic violence, 29 complaints of drinking in public and 71 motor vehicle and pedestrian accidents.
Despite the unusual stormy weather for the season, very few incidents were recorded requiring disaster response, and partly due to weather conditions there was a decrease in fires over the long weekend. .

But with the good comes the bad, and drunk driving arrests, incidents of domestic violence, and the number of assault cases recorded by our PECC alone sadly reflect the darker side of the holiday season.

We are also noticing an increase in calls related to self-harm. It’s heartbreaking that in a time when storytelling is celebratory, so many of us are going through a very difficult time.
