‘Gorgeous and bubbly’ woman, 29, found dead at Airbnb after hanging out with friends

A coroner has issued a warning after a ‘beautiful and bubbly’ woman was tragically found dead in the bathroom of the Airbnb she was staying at while on a girls weekend with friends.

Kay Reed was found dead in her vacation apartment after celebrating with her fellow hens. The 29-year-old traveled to liverpool with a group of other women as they celebrated a friend’s upcoming wedding.

She enjoyed a night out then spent the next day partying with friends at a Wetherspoons, Junkyard Golf and then a bar. In the early hours of the morning, she was found unconscious on the apartment bathroom floor by her friend after complaining of feeling unwell.

Paramedics were called but tragically she could not be revived. A coroner yesterday (December 12) concluded that she probably vomited and inhaled stomach acid into her upper respiratory tract, leading to her death, the ECHO reports.

Heartbroken friends created a webpage in his memory, sharing messages of love and grief. Posting on the page, Louise said: “Enjoy heaven my perfect Kay. I wish you were here to see how much you are loved. Make sure you have a pint waiting for me lovely.

“I love you more than words could ever say, and actions could never show. You are the light in my world and I will keep you with me forever.”

The investigation was informed that Kay, a call center agent who lived in Redcar, had been drinking with her friends in Liverpool city center on the night of April 29. The following day the group headed out to a Wetherspoons at 10.30am, then played crazy golf at Junkyard Golf Club and ate at Five Guys before heading back to Dale Street to get ready for a night out.

They spent the evening at the Alma De Cuba bar on Seel Street and returned to the apartments at 00:30. Kay was found dead an hour later.

Fellow ‘hens’ paid tribute to the ‘beautiful’, ‘bubbly’ 29-year-old, who graduated with a master’s degree from Birmingham City University in 2016. Bride Lauren Kenny said: ‘Keep smiling and singing gorgeous girl ! Once again, you will always hold a special place in my heart.”

Gemma said: “Kay, you had the ability to instantly put people at ease. From the moment we met, your bubbly positive personality just radiated and it was an absolute pleasure to be with you.

“I can’t believe how our weekend with so many amazing memories ended the way it did and I’m so sorry. I’m having a hard time understanding what happened and life seems so unfair but I know you will be reunited with your family in heaven.”

Samantha said, “Your personality shone bright and now you shine on all of us. Keep dancing up there, until we meet again.”

“It is more likely than not that the alcohol consumed rendered Kay unconscious. Kay vomited and inhaled stomach acid into her upper airways, resulting in her death.

“It’s something a lot of people do, go out drinking, it’s not something unusual and she was clearly very unhappy with the results of what happened. I think it shows how much alcohol can be dangerous.”
