Haines Shoe House will become Airbnb

There was an old lady who lived in a shoe, and now you can too – at least for a little while. The Haines Shoe House in York County has new owners, and they plan to turn the house into an Airbnb. The new owners said they plan to retain the museum’s ambiance and artifacts, so these items will be shared with the public. Visitors can still view the shoe until ownership is transferred. The last day of opening is July 24. Hours of operation are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. There are guided tours, a gift shop and ice cream. The Shoe House was built in 1948 by “The Shoe Wizard” Mahlon Haines.
