Two Philadelphia men are in custody following a high-speed chase on Tuesday that led law enforcement to a 12-mile chase and later to a suspected methamphetamine and fentanyl stash at a rental holiday, State Police report in Huntingdon.
The driver, Tyreek Dirrone Willis, 31, and his passenger, Dahmir Amin Bostic, 27, were arrested Wednesday morning by Magistrate District Judge Doug Gummo.
Willis is charged in two cases, the first involving a trio of alleged drug purchases and the second stemming from Tuesday afternoon’s pursuit that began in Smithfield Township and ended on a dead end road in the Union Township.
Gummo set bail at $100,000 cash for charges arising from the prosecution and $100,000 for each of the alleged drug sales.
Bostic, who is in custody on $200,000 bond, faces charges related to controlled substances allegedly found at the rental property.
Both men are due to appear for preliminary hearings on Wednesday February 1 in Huntingdon County Central Court.
“Fortunately, there were no injuries,” Huntingdon County District Attorney David Smith said, reflecting on the time and location of the high-speed chase. “It turned out to be a somewhat dangerous situation and we are very grateful that no one was injured.”
State Police Report Private Kevin Reese made controlled meth purchases from Willis with the assistance of a confidential informant on August 8, September 30 and October 7, all from locations in Smithfield Township.
State police were notified Jan. 24 that Willis was in the Huntingdon area and had multiple active warrants for his arrest.
Just after 4 p.m., the troopers went to serve the warrants after learning that Willis was in the Lake Raystown mall parking lot, driving a black 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
According to criminal complaints filed by Troopers Kevin Reese and Robert Colton, state police were approaching the Jeep on foot when Willis drove through the parking lot at high speed. Reese reports that soldiers tried to block the exits from the square with their patrol vehicles, but Willis got on Route 22 and headed east.
Private Colton writes that he chased the Jeep, reporting, “The PSP vehicle reached speeds of 135 mph and the Jeep continued to gain distance.”
Colton said the Jeep turned off Route 22 onto Main Street near Smokers Hill Road in Henderson Township and then turned onto Route 829. Colton said the pursuit continued, reaching speeds of 100 mph. The Jeep turned onto Happy Hills Road, then onto Bob Long Road, a dead end road, where the chase ended with the Jeep boxed in by patrol units.
Private Reese reports that after the chase was over, police learned from a confidential informant that Willis and Bostic were staying at an AirBnB on Ferguson Valley Road, Oliver Township, Mifflin County. With the owner’s permission, police conducted a search of the home with a K-9 unit at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday.
Police said the search revealed 9 ounces of suspected methamphetamine, found in a Big Gulp plastic cup inside a backpack, as well as two Philadelphia code violations issued to Bostic for possession of marijuana. Police also found 1.6 ounces of suspected heroin/fentanyl in the kitchen.
Police say that since the suspected drugs were located during the investigation of an ongoing incident, the Huntingdon County District Attorney and the Mifflin County District Attorney agreed that charges arising from the search would be pursued in the Huntingdon County.
For the alleged drug sales, Willis is charged with three counts each of criminal possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance; crime 3 criminal use of a means of communication; misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia.
In connection with the events of January 24, Willis is charged with felony 3 on the run; misdemeanor 2 recklessly endangering another person; and misdemeanor driving under the influence of a controlled substance.
Willis is also charged with seven summary traffic violations.
Bostic is charged with criminal possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia.
