DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, 22 December 2021 / PRNewswire / – Maritime and Mercantile International (MMI) and Emirates Leisure Retail (ELR) have been appointed the main concessionaire for all food and beverage, duty free and commercial outlets in the new Terminal 3 at Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (ZNZ).

MMI and ELR join forces to create and deliver a next-generation, world-class customer experience at ZNZ starting in spring 2022. The companies’ vast international expertise will bring a mix of Zanzibar-inspired food and drink outlets, as well as ‘a multi-category, duty-free shop experience showcasing a carefully selected range of the world’s best brands.

Eight Inc, the world-renowned creative collective, has been nominated to work with MMI and ELR to develop a new concept of master plan, intended to create a unique customer experience at the airport. Eight Inc will explore and create the journey of passengers, in all duty-free, foodservice and commerce spaces, incorporating a full suite of integrated digital solutions. It will redefine travel retail and create a sense of belonging for travelers, by bringing together Zanzibar character and design with the latest technology, including a seamless payment solution, so consumers can pay for their restaurant and retail purchases in one transaction.

The new project will become the world’s first integrated catering and retail experience in retail, providing travelers with a unique and integrated airport experience that will be a destination in its own right.
