Memphis pig missing for weeks found its owners

MEMPHIS, TN (WREG) – A pet pig on the loose for six weeks was reunited with its owners Wednesday afternoon at Memphis Animal Services.

Someone found the 80-pound Juliana pig named Julie wandering near Jackson and Chelsea.

Julie the pig

Kristin Clark said she had the pig for about four months before she managed to escape from her enclosed garden.

She was relieved when she got the call yesterday that Julie had been found.

“I didn’t think I was going to have this little girl,” Clark said. “I thought she was gone.”

Clark said she searched for Julie non-stop and even turned to the lost pets website. Pawboost to help.

“They share it with groups on Facebook and Instagram and a bunch of different sites,” Clark said.

SAM said their pet reunification specialist searched several of these sites and found Clark’s post about his missing pig.

“Animal services called me and said they had a pig that matched the description of my pig,” Clark said.

Memphis Animal Services had housed Julie in a grassy area outside. Clark and his son only had to shout the pig’s name a few times before she ran towards them.

“She knows his name,” Clark said

Clark said Julie was found about three miles from her home.

She has no idea what the very friendly pig did, but thinks someone took care of her. She said Julie gained 15 to 20 pounds.

“She ate well,” Clark said.

MAS said having a pet pig isn’t unusual. On average, they lose one pig a year.
