Missing aristocrat’s father begs her to contact police for baby’s safety

The father of a missing aristocrat with his newborn baby and partner has told of the family’s pain as he urges her to contact police.

Napier Marten, believed to be a former page to the late Queen, said he and his family were “deeply concerned” for the well-being of Constance Marten and her baby.

Ms Marten comes from a wealthy aristocratic family, while her partner Mark Gordon is a sex offender who spent 20 years in a US prison for rape and assault.

His conviction relates to an attack in Florida on a woman in her early 20s when he was 14.

He and Ms Marten have been missing for nearly two weeks and police say they have a substantial amount of cash to live off the grid.

The couple have reportedly lived an isolated life since meeting in 2016, with then-theatre student Ms Marten cutting ties with family and friends.

In an audio call, made via The Independent, Mr Marten said that while he remained away from his ‘beloved’ daughter, his family were ready to ‘do whatever it takes to ensure that you come back safely.”

He said the family had been living in “great concern”, knowing of Mr Gordon’s past, “for some time”.

In his appeal, Mr Marten said: ‘Dearest Constance, even though we remain apart at this time, I stand ready, as I always have and as the family has always done, to do whatever it takes. is necessary for your safe return.

“I implore you to find a way to turn yourself and your little one over to the police as soon as possible so that you and him can be protected.

“Only then can a process of healing and recovery begin, however long it may take, however difficult it may be.

“I would like you to understand that the family will do whatever is necessary for your well-being.

“And I also want you to understand that you are very, very loved, no matter what.

“We are deeply concerned for your well-being and that of your baby. The last eight years have been more than painful for all the family as well as for your friends, as they must have been for you, and to see you again so vulnerable is an extreme ordeal.

Mr Marten thanked the police for “every effort to bring this tragic episode to a speedy and safe conclusion” as he reiterated his appeal to his daughter to “bring up the courage to come to the police as soon as possible”.

Ms Marten grew up at Crichel House, an estate in Dorset, in a prominent family with links to the Royal Family.

The Sunday Times said her grandmother was a playmate of Princess Margaret, while her father was a page to the Queen, who died last year.

Last September, Ms. Marten and Mr. Gordon began moving around the country, renting AirBnBs for brief periods.

On January 5, they were on the M61 when their car broke down and caught fire near junction four in Farnworth, Bolton.

The couple then walked to the Anchor Lane Bridge, where they caught a taxi to Liverpool before taking another to Harwich, Essex.

They were seen around Colchester on Friday January 6 and Saturday January 7, when they took another taxi to East Ham station in Newham, London, and were last seen.

Every time Ms Marten and Mr Gordon are seen on CCTV they cover their faces or look away and have kept the baby covered.

Investigators say the couple seem to know how to evade authorities, making their search more difficult.

Police believe they could be anywhere in the UK and are calling on the public to provide any information that can help find them.

Investigators said it was unusual for hotels to accept cash payments and appealed to staff at hotels or hostels where the couple may be staying to come forward.
